O papel da mulher na Igreja Assembleia de Deus com base no Jornal Mensageiro da Paz (2006 -2010)

Abstract

In recent years, the Evangelical Assembly of God Church (IEAD) has been growing and spreading significantly across all states in the country, given the strong role religious and missionary of the same. The focus of this work is to problematize the role of women in IEAD, at the beginning of the 21st century. For this, the research is based on the investigation of editions of the press written by the Church itself, through the content conveyed by the newspaper Mensageiro da Paz, working with the analysis of editions from 2006 to 2010. The time frame is justified because this is the period in which we have access to the complete periodicals, in digital. In Brazil, the religious issue is significant, as it is a country with a large plurality religious. Religion has a close relationship with the community, a relationship that explains multiple and complex religious practices, Pentecostalism being among them. The religions can respond effectively and effectively to the needs and social interests of the population, both with regard to religious demand or interests, and responding to physical needs of the popular classes, which can be seen through the numerous projects social programs aimed at the poorest classes (CAMPOS, 2002 apud TRAUB, 2012, p.2). IEAD is categorized as one of the many evangelical churches of the Pentecostal branch. Pentecostalism is a movement of Protestant Evangelical Christianity, which gives emphasis on a direct and personal experience with God, in our case, through baptism with the Holy Spirit. This term is derived from Pentecost, the initially Jewish festival that It was later given new meaning by Christians. Mainly in the years 1950 to 1960, there were a significant increase in Pentecostalism within historical Protestantism1 Brazilian, which continues to this day. In all Protestant denominations, there are fasting and prayer campaigns2 , as a way of seeking spiritual revival and a growth and spread of the gospel.
