Reverse emotional abandonment is a topic that has received attention in the legal world in recent years. This occurs because family and emotional relationships have been increasingly valued by society and, consequently, have been the subject of discussion in the legal sphere. Reverse affective abandonment is characterized by the absence of affection, care and protection of children towards their elderly or sick parents. This type of abandonment can be characterized, for example, by the lack of visit, contact or material and emotional support. The discussion about reverse emotional abandonment led the courts to reflect on the need to protect the elderly and sick in vulnerable situations in relation to their children. The topic has been the subject of study with the aim of ensuring the protection of these people and the promotion of healthy and balanced family relationships.
